Solar Return Edition

Perhaps you’ve always wanted to have a glimpse of your future. Well I have good news for you! A forecast of your year can be seen through a specific type of chart. It’s called the Solar Return and it can be calculated each year, whenever the sun returns to its position! This is also known as your birthday. Therefore, this chart will allow you to predict the main themes and events of your life from your birthday until the next. 

*Note: I personally read the Solar Return chart on its own and with the Natal house overlays.

All of these are based off of my own experiences, and dedicated to my loved ones who inspired me to make this post! Please take the information with a grain of salt if it does not resonate, as astrology can manifest in many different ways— other than the suggested notes below.

❀ A 6H Neptune (especially Rx) in the Solar Return may create more sleep disturbances or concerns throughout the year, especially since this is the house of health and daily routines, while Neptune governs sleep— fluctuations of emotions or confusion in the waking life may have an affect on this as well

❀ An 8H Uranus in the Solar Return may refer to online stock investments or simply receiving money through the internet during the year!

❀ Solar Return Midheaven conjunct Natal Moon may suggest emotional fluctuations within the career or otherwise working in a field dominated by women throughout the year

❀ A 4H Jupiter in the Solar Return may suggest an increase in finances from real estate— security in the home is likely unless additional aspects and placements suggest otherwise

❀ Solar Return Midheaven overlaying the Natal 8H may hint at the native’s public reputation undergoing a significant transformation!

❀ A 7H Chiron refers to a potential breakup if the native was in a relationship during the Solar Return year. Otherwise, it speaks of healing from previous connections and reconciling with one’s shadow self

❀ A Gemini North Node in the 9H of the Solar Return refers to a purpose in teaching others during the year— a specific example would be a children’s camp since Gemini governs early education and youth

❀ Natal planets that conjunct the Solar Return ascendant are likely to be noticed by others throughout the year and put into focus

Ex. I was more outspoken and confident about my writing during the year my Natal Mercury was conjunct the Solar Return ascendant! As a result, people were able to recognize my intelligence and even praised my work a lot more than before

❀ A 5H Aquarius in the Solar Return may hint at some online dating throughout the year! Otherwise, there will perhaps be plenty of social interactions with a collective or friends

❀ A 3H Moon may refer to stronger bonds with peers and siblings during the Solar Return year! It may even suggest more communication with the mother (or emotionally dominant parent) as well, and if this placement is in Sagittarius— it’s likely long distance interactions

✿ A 6H Stellium in the Solar Return will likely indicate a hectic and busy year! There may be a calling to re-adjust one’s entire lifestyle or routines and habits

✿ A 10H Saturn may refer to some delays in job searching or some slow progress within the native’s career path throughout the year. This may be due to some restrictions or even self-doubt being in the way

✿ Having Leo degrees (5°, 17°, 29°) on the 11H may suggest a bit of internet fame or popularity during the Solar Return year since this house governs social media! If there’s Mercury sitting this house and at one of these degrees as well, it may specifically refer to a viral tweet or text post

✿ Solar Return 6H overlaying the Natal 4H/IC indicates the native being more active in regards to family routines and chores at home throughout the year, especially since the 6H governs acts of service

✿ Cancer, Moon, and/or Ceres in the 4H of the Solar Return will likely refer to the native cooking more often! If there are Gemini degrees (3°, 15°, 27°) on these placements, there’s an indication that they will be learning a lot from the mother or emotionally dominant parent throughout the year

✿ Having Virgo degrees (6°, 18°) on the Ascendant can indicate new routines and habits regarding the native's appearance during the Solar Return year. It may even specifically be a change in their appearance due to health reasons

✿ You may want to take more photos of yourself when your Solar Return Venus is in the 12H since this house governs cameras and illusions! This placement of Venus implies that your beauty will be somewhat hidden or internal throughout the year, so perhaps you’d want to capture it in an artistic manner

✿ 7H North Node in the Solar Return doesn’t always refer to a fated romantic union! It may rather hint at a business partnership or contract, and this is most evident if this house overlays the Natal 6H or 10H… or if there are Capricorn degrees (10°, 22°) here!

✿ Having the Solar Return chart ruler in the 11H suggests that the native’s main theme of the year is to manifest and pursue their dreams! The sign and planet will provide insight on how they can achieve their desires

Ex. Mercury here will suggest a need to teach and learn from others within a collective or through friends, while Mars refers to developing leadership qualities and being more active in pursuing their aspirations

✿ Having the angular houses in Mutable signs (Gemini, Sagittarius, Virgo, Pisces) may refer to a year full of quick or scattered interactions. It may also suggest that you’ll meet a lot more people than usual, especially since these signs are very people-oriented and have a desire to help, learn, teach, and communicate
