Astrology Observations N°12
Solar Return Edition
Previously, we’ve taken a look at the Solar Return and some of its manifestations. If you haven’t yet, please feel free to check out the last three observations: [1] [2] [3]
All of these are based off of my own experiences, and dedicated to my loved ones who inspired me to make this post! Please take the information with a grain of salt if it does not resonate, as astrology can manifest in many different ways— other than the suggested notes below.
ʚïɞ Having Jupiter in the 8H of your Solar Return year could be a blessing, especially if you have positive aspects to this placement! It will be a year full of abundance for you, especially since this house governs other people’s finances and Jupiter governs expansion… Otherwise if there are negative aspects, be careful of debts and/or loans. You’ll have to look at the houses and placements that are aspecting in order to further determine what type of expenditures are affecting this
ʚïɞ Check where your Solar Return Neptune (especially in retrograde) lands in order to find out where you’ll be experiencing confusion, introspection or healing throughout the year! Take a look at the degree as well in order to find details in what’s being reflected on
Ex. My best friend has hers right on the angle of her 9H at 22° (Capricorn degree) and she’s been very introspective surrounding her school pursuits and where it’s gotten her in terms of career!
I had mine in the 6H at 21° (Sagittarian degree) and conjunct my Descendant— I started realizing how my partnerships have all helped me throughout my career path and inspired me to expand my knowledge
ʚïɞ If your Solar Return Uranus is in the 6H (especially in retrograde), you may need to seek repairments for a particular technological device that you use on the daily basis. If it’s harshly aspecting the Moon, this may specifically concern the screen of your phone or desktop/laptop since it governs glass
Ex. I have this exact placement and aspect in my Solar Return and my phone screen started lifting up from the bottom
ʚïɞ Having your Solar Return Chiron in the Natal 10H could point towards dissatisfaction and/or anxieties regarding your career situation. Chiron carries old wounds surrounding your public image and/or place in society
Ex. My best friend had her 9H Solar Return Chiron falling into the Natal 10H and she had worries regarding how qualified she was for her job. Since this placement was in Aries, it also suggests how she was placed into a new environment and had to re-adapt
ʚïɞ If you have a Grand Cross in your Solar Return, you’ll likely struggle to keep balance throughout the year and will have to learn how to sacrifice certain aspects of your life in order to realign your path. A Grand Cross is when all 4 planets are separated across your chart by square aspects (90° apart) and creates tension. The houses, planets and modality of this configuration will show the native what they’ll need to fix that year. If you have this Natally and it shows up in your Solar Return, you might actually struggle with it a lot less than those who don’t have it in their own natal chart. You’ve learned how challenges are a part of life and adapted to them…
Ex. In my sophomore year of undergraduate studies, I had a Cardinal Grand Cross that involved my 11th, 9th, 3rd, and 5th houses with Moon, Neptune, Mars, and Saturn. I went through quite a bit of depression (Moon → emotions) because I wanted to transfer out of my original major (9H → school) and knew it was going to cause delays (5H Saturn → asked me what makes you happy?).
I was also struggling with harassment (3H Mars) from a previous partnership (11H/5H)… and yeah, it was just a rough year all around because I felt confused about my path (Neptune). The cardinal modality was all about taking initiative; to move on from certain situations in my life. I learned how to let go and allow myself to pursue a different major and be okay with leaving that past relationship!
ʚïɞ Jupiter in the 11H of your Solar Return is an exciting one to have since it suggests how you’ll be expanding your social circle and will grow in supporters!
ʚïɞ Having your Solar Return 3H overlaying your Natal 4H may suggest that you’ll find a lot of comfort on social media. This is one specific interpretation of this placement since the former house governs online communities and communication, while the latter governs where you feel at home
ʚïɞ You might start experiencing self-doubt or limitations surrounding your own capabilities if you have 22° (kill or be killed degree) on any planets and/or angles in your Solar Return
Check which planet is affected and its house placement to find more details on the situation:
Ex. 22° Leo Midheaven = You may be feeling imposter syndrome, as you do not align with the public image people have of you— this could place a lot of pressure onto you since there seems to be too high of an expectation to be stable or perform well in society…
My best friend has a 22° Taurus Midheaven in her current Solar Return and it took her awhile to find a job. At the beginning of her Solar Return, she was feeling very dejected since there was a need to seek stability
ʚïɞ Having your Solar Return 8H overlaying the Natal 4H may actually trigger some old childhood wounds throughout the year. Otherwise, you might find yourself actually having a transformation in your relationship with the family (particularly mother)
ʚïɞ Check the degree of your Venus in your Solar Return to see the aesthetic you might start to embody throughout the year or how you will experience beauty
Ex. I had a 7H Libra Venus at 2° (Taurean degree) one year and a lot of people asked me out around that time and even talked about my appearance or “girly” style
ʚïɞ Having your Solar Return Venus in your Natal 11H suggests that a lot of people around you (even online) will find you very attractive throughout the year
Ex. During the year I had that 7H Venus influence in my Solar Return, I had an influx of followers on my social media accounts
ʚïɞ Having an empty 1H and 10H in the Solar Return may suggest that there won’t be as many major issues surrounding independence as there would be with relationships (assuming the majority of the planets fall into houses that relate to other people— ex. 3H = community, neighbours, younger siblings)
ʚïɞ You should check where you have your Lilith in the Solar Return in order to understand how you’re repressing anger and/or where you’ll be seeking recognition for your innovative mind
Ex. A client of mine had their Sun exactly conjunct Lilith in the 10H and they strongly desired to be seen for their efforts at work!
I had mine in 8H Aries and that year, I had the desire to be known for my new ideas surrounding spirituality and astrology
ʚïɞ Having your Solar Return Mercury in the Natal 11H may actually suggest that you’ll meet people who “mirror” you… a positive manifestation would be “like-minded” people. However, this could also refer to an impersonation (especially online since the 11H governs the internet)…
Ex. Thankfully my Solar Return Sun was conjunct Mercury during the year I had it in my natal 11H because I found out someone made a fake account of me on Facebook
ʚïɞ Aquarian (Uranus or 11°, 23°) influence over the 4H of the Solar Return is going to bring a lot of fluctuations to the home life since this energy is known to be all about restructuring. There may even be some detachment from the home as well since the native with this placement might be too busy to tend to certain housekeeping tasks
Ex. One of my clients had Uranus and Sun at 11° and 23° in their 4H, and they were in the process of moving homes and decorating at the beginning of their Solar Return
ʚïɞ If you have 29° (anaretic or degree of fate) on any planets or angles in your Solar Return, you’ll be finishing up a cycle surrounding the theme of the house that this placement is in. Astrologers believe that this degree refers to predestined missions and will require the native to reach clarity (Leonian energy) in order to yield satisfaction from it
ʚïɞ Neptune at a Scorpio degree (8°, 20°) in the Solar Return may actually suggest that there’s hidden secrets that are being kept away from you! Remember that Scorpio governs the taboo and debts/loans, so it could refer to this specifically. If it positively aspects a luminary (Sun or Moon), the hidden secrets will be revealed to you later on in the year. Moreover, if it has any aspect to Libra or Venus— there may be legalities involved and/or justice.
You’ll also have to check the house that this placement is in to see what the secret might be about:
Ex. A client of mine had this in their 6H and they found out their boss was routinely keeping their money instead of paying them the proper amount of hours they worked. Since Venus was their Solar Return chart ruler and in conjunction to this placement, there has been legal action
ʚïɞ While you could certainly find out how your emotional wellbeing will play out throughout the year from your Moon placement, you’ll want to check the element of your Solar Return Rising and the most dominant element of your overall chart too!
Ex. If you have an Earth rising and your most dominant element in your Solar Return is Water, you may be repressing a lot of your emotions and appear more put together on the surface
ʚïɞ Having the North Node in the 5H of your Solar Return is a great blessing since it suggests that your purpose for the year is to find your inner child and express your most authentic, creative Self
ʚïɞ If you have your Venus Return during your Solar Return, you’ll have an increased likelihood of experiencing a new relationship and/or a fresh approach to beauty and love! It’s going to help you learn more about your self-expression ♡
ʚïɞ If you have your 2H starting at a Gemini degree, you’ll have a good chance of pooling in money for charitable causes!
This is possible since the 2H governs your material possessions while Gemini represents your network
Ex. It became quite easy for me to start initiatives for various causes throughout the year since I had 15° on my Solar Return 2H (and Mercury in this house too). I was capable of sending money to 5 different organizations by the help of others ❥ thank you again to those who contributed!
